The North Shore (IL) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated
Adrienne E. Davis
President
As President of the North Shore (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, I am honored to reflect on the strong foundation upon which our chapter stands and the meaningful work that continues to define who we are. Our chapter was established through the vision, leadership, and commitment of our founders, Vivian McMillian and Georgia Williams, our 23 civic-minded charter members, and the many dedicated women who have followed in their footsteps. Their legacy of service, excellence, and sisterhood continues to guide our mission today.
Throughout the years, the North Shore (IL) Chapter has remained deeply committed to serving our community through impactful programming and strategic partnerships. Our work spans key areas including youth development, the arts, civic engagement, global awareness, and health and human services, with an emphasis on addressing real needs and creating lasting change.
Our impact is evident through initiatives such as co-sponsoring the Lake County Health Fair; awarding college scholarships to deserving students; donating playground equipment; sustaining two JoAnn Brown Nash Reading Rooms; supporting survivors of domestic violence; sponsoring traveling art exhibits; introducing youth to classical music through engagement with the Chicago Sinfonietta; promoting healthy lifestyles and addressing childhood obesity; hosting community forums on human trafficking; educating the community on the awareness and prevention of chronic kidney disease; and establishing a National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Jr. chapter.
In addition to these efforts, our chapter has consistently provided financial support and volunteer leadership to cultural and civic organizations dedicated to enriching the lives of African Americans and people of African descent. These contributions reflect our unwavering commitment to service and community empowerment.
As we look ahead, the North Shore (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated remains focused on advancing social change, strengthening educational opportunities, reducing health inequities, and improving the overall well-being of the communities we serve. I am confident that, together, we will continue to build on our legacy and lead with purpose, impact, and excellence.
In Friendship and Service

To Our Partners, Thank You!
The North Shore Chapter is pleased to have been granted a second year of Black Kidney Awareness, Resources and Education funding (Black K.A.R.E.) from The Central Area of The Links, Incorporated made possible by Baxter Healthcare Corporation.
The primary goal of the Black K.A.R.E. initiative is to raise awareness of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in Black communities with a focus on risk factors, complications, treatment — and how to reduce the risk of kidney failure and/or improve outcomes for people living with the condition. The continued support allows us to expand and further programming to educate and empower communities around this issue.
