International Trends and Services
The International Trends and Services Facet was formed in 1970. The goal of this facet is to provide services and delivers transformational programs to people of African ancestry globally so that they may have a better quality of life. Programs are designed and developed to service educational, health and cultural needs and to help people emerge from poverty.
A primary objective of our international work is to enrich the lives of women and their families through the provision of tangible, “boots on the ground” services. The North Shore Chapter has donated basic life necessities such as diapers, blankets and hygiene items to our partners (coordinated by The Links, Incorporated) in Haiti and the Bahamas. The North Shore (IL) Chapter’s global impact has included:
Funded the $10,000 rehabilitation of Halalisa Primary School in KwaZulu Province, South Africa-Schools for Africa; Provided MaamaKits (sterile supplies required at childbirth to help reduce maternal mortality/morbidity) in partnership with the World Health Organization-Liberia & Uganda; Sponsored vocational education programs in support of Ugandan youth in partnership with Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO)
North Shore Links have provided an ongoing engagement with non-profits who serve vulnerable countries such as, Share Your Soles and Feed My Starving Children.
