National Trends and Services

Established in 1964, The National Trends and Services facet is tasked with eliminating disparities by reducing barriers to resources through advocacy, education, and service. The facet’s goals include increasing the number of sustainable and measurable programs; increasing collaborative partnerships; and extending our existing initiatives to include communities identified as having the greatest need.

During the Chapter’s inaugural year the members identified the need for free health services in Lake County, IL and hosted the first Lake County Health Fair in partnership with Lake County Head Start. The fair continued for more than 25 years. The North Shore Chapter has been a fervent supporter of survivors of domestic violence providing monetary and in-kind resources on a consistent basis.

National Trends and Services is currently overseeing several key initiatives including:

Raising awareness about Human Trafficking in partnership with Jewish Coalition Against Sex Trafficking-Chicago (JCAST). The Chapter has sponsored in-person and virtual forums and book discussions for adults and high school students to increase their awareness of human/sex trafficking tactics. North Shore Links provide “Dignity Bags” (gift cards and personal hygiene items) to survivors.

Educating and empowering individuals to vote in local and general elections. The facet is partnering with the Evanston NAACP, Evanston Township High School, When We All Vote and The League of Women Voters, Wilmette, IL.
